DR Puka Temu mentioned that the office of the health department should establish health promotion (Aug 29).

He further said that 60% of health issues can be minimised through health promotion and education while 40% of the health problems can be addressed at clinical settings.

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill also said that his government has funded the health programme with 100% budgetary support which the people of this country appreciate and recognize.

I support the call made by Temu, the public service minister to set up office of health promotion, it is overdue and I call this government to quickly establish it.

I am confident that many preventable medical illnesses will be reduced.

Disease like HIV, TB and Malaria can reach great prospect of reducing to low percentage.

I thank Temu for mentioning this on the floor of parliament and ask the health minister to immediately put in necessary policy framework to establish lifesaving office.
