Sex assault denied

A 20-year-old man was yesterday denied bail at the Lae District Court over allegations of sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl.
Frankie Joe, 20, pleaded not guilty and had his case adjourned to August 21.
Police alleged that Joe, from Misima, Milne Bay, had inserted his finger into the private parts of the toddler while under the influence of alcohol.
“Since you denied the charge, witnesses will come and testify,” district court magistrate Nasaling Bingtau told Joe.
“This is a serious matter. I will not grant you bail. You will remain in custody and reappear on Aug 20.”
The court heard the toddler had been with her mother and grandmother when she was allegedly taken by Joe to a corner and assaulted.
