Sexual abuse horrors

Letters

WE are seeing almost daily reports of sexual abuse and domestic violence in our major towns and cities, especially NCD.
Unfortunately there seems to be no reports explaining why and how the violence and abuse are happening in the manner in which they are being reported to police.
It is not worth just reporting that the predators of the sexual abuse of minors are people with whom you share your food with and are also resident of the same household.
As for domestic violence, mainly against women, there are equally no reasons given or reported as to why such violence are occurring, especially within the family unit or household.
I am not a social worker but I would like to kindly ask social experts or counsellors to explain what they see as the most likely causes of abuse and violence in our society.
This might stir up some debate among the population.
Firstly, by nature of our creation, we come under the animalistic species and by virtue of being recognised as humans, we are more advanced in thinking and behaviour than other animalistic creatures out there.
As human beings we have our own sexual urges or desires when opposite sex are meeting or seeing each other for the first time. These sexual desires also happen when one sees a beautiful woman or a handsome man walking past.
The country has so many different cultures and traditions and those affect how those communities address sex.
Inter-marriages have been occurring throughout the country among our mainly younger generation and both parties usually face great expenses to mitigate the demands brought on by cultural differences.
Faith or religious beliefs among married couples play a vital role in how they treat each other sexually.
Often we have marriage breakdowns because a partner has not been faithful.
We see couples arguing because the working partner, especially the husband, has not brought home money or food for the family.
The husband, after drinking heavily, comes home and starts demanding money or food from the wife and on finding nothing decides to bash up the wife as well as the children.
In the same alcoholic condition, the husband will start demanding sex with the partner, and if she refuses, she is instantly abused by the drunken husband.
We also have issues where the husband then decides to marry another woman, which now creates tensions between the two women, sometimes leading to fighting and death. Marriage between couples of different cultural backgrounds often brings pressing issues of each partner’s customary obligations to relatives.
Now with the sexual abuse of minors, especially those occurring within the family household, the predators are often relatives living in the same house.
Why and how is this allowed to happen when parents, relatives and guardians are supposed to be looking after the children 24/7?
Predators and the perpetrators of sexual abuse and sexual violence should be jailed for life.
