Ships still transporting cargo

CONSORT Express Lines vessels are operating and delivering cargo to provincial ports, says Steamships Trading Company general manager corporate affairs David Toua.
He told The National that it was business as usual but with strict Covid-19 measures put in place by PNG Ports.
Toua said the East West Transport that operated in Port Moresby and Lae was supplying fuel to the Highlands.
“East West has been requested to provide temporary extra capacity in the Highlands to bring fuel but we are not generally operating there,” he said.
“We were asked by Puma Energy to provide assistance when needed.
“It’s on an as is required basis.”
Toa said the coronavirus pandemic had affected all Steamships businesses.
“It is a situation that is monitored on a daily basis,” he said.
“Consort is still operating, as best as it can in the current circumstances.”
