Shooting of student slammed

HIGHLANDS eastern end division commander Nema Mondiai yesterday condemned the action of a policeman in Jiwaka who allegedly shot dead a student on Monday.
Mondiai told the relatives of the late Mond Brown, 17, from the Kumuka Ngants Kapangkup tribe in North Waghi, that the suspect was in police custody and a formal charge would be laid against him.
He condemned the action of the officer for allegedly breaching the police code of conduct and ethics in discharging a state weapon against an unarmed civilian.
“The deceased is our own son and since he is a member of the police family, his body will remain in the periphery of the Banz Police Station.”
