Shop at stores that use scanners

Letters

IT is the festive season and customers will be shopping in bulk.
I suggest to save money by shopping at shops that use scanner at the cash register.
I have been a victim of bulk trading and cash and carry store.
I normally write down every item prices while shopping in bulk.
I estimated my total to be less than K200.
However, upon running the items through the payout counter I end up paying K260.
My investigation showed that most items purchased had either their quantities increased to double and triple of the amounts or priced differently from prices shown on the shelves.
I also paid the cost of a 10kg bag of flour for a 5kg bag.
It could be done deliberately or the cashier’s mistake as she was under pressure of trying to attend to the long line of customers.
I complained to the management, however, they responded to me as if I did not know what I was talking about because the receipt only showed cost, quantity and total amount and no product names.
I suggest our government put a laws that all shops use scanning cash registers to avoid stores stealing from the customers.
For shops using the scanner at their register, one should watch the monitor at the cash register for the discounts offered as sometimes the discounts are not taken into account at the payout counter and you end up paying full price for the item.
Just a thought for customers with tight shopping budgets.
