Shop cashiers shortchanging customers by 5 toea

IT has now become a habit for cashiers at shops and supermarkets to give 5 toea less in change.

I have been to some of the shops at the Lae main market, Top Town and Eriku shopping centres.

I have been watching very closely to ensure the cashiers give me the correct  change.

When I am supposed to get change of K1.65, I would only get K1.60.

Often, I have to ask for my 5 toea.

It is not much, but every 5 toea a customer ignores, adds to the shop’s profits.

And 5 toea makes a big difference over time.

Please do not fall into this trap.

Watch the cashiers and ask them to give you your correct change before you leave a  shop or super-market.
