THIS academic year will be starting soon and Theodist in Port Moresby is seeing parents and students flock to its store to buy stationery.
Theodist national sales and marketing manager Kevin Anderson said on Saturday that it was the “traditional back to school annual shopping spree”.
“This period is obviously always a busy time for us,” he said.
“We have focused on the sale last year in our Christmas catalogue, and then we had Boxing Day specials.
“So business has been consistent thus far.”
Anderson said Theodist’s “Back to School” promotion now had a lucky draw for a Honda CRV car.
“Customers need to spend K200 to qualify for the draw.
“We also have a free K10 gift card, for every K200 purchase,” he said.
Anderson said backpacks and stationery were the main items bought by shoppers.
“Our products are at very low prices,” he said.
Anderson said Theodist had to operate an extra three tills to help clear payments faster for shoppers.
“The queues on Saturdays are really long but based on today, we are far better suited to not let those queues generate so that shoppers did not have to wait long to pay,” he said.
Anderson advised customers to shop on Mondays to Fridays as it was not as busy as Saturdays.
“Next Saturday (Jan 21) and the following Saturday, we are open until 3pm and customers do not have to rush because we will be open until a little later than usual,” he said.
