SHP and HR powers

Letters

I APPLAUD the decision by the Department of Personnel Management (DPM) to withdraw the Human Resources powers of the Southern Highlands Provincial Administration (The National, Oct 16).
Unfortunately it is for only one year to allow the payroll cleansing task to be completed, but my wish is for DPM to permanently withdraw those powers.
The HR division has being abused and manipulated for too long.
Genuine public servants who had served the province loyally – some of who have retired and others resigned or terminated – are still waiting for their final pay entitlements.
I am one of those officers and I have been waiting since 2012.
Every time we enquire we get the same story – no money. The waiting list gets longer every year.
Our rights as workers have been grossly abused over the years by the crooks in the system.
My appeal to Agnes Friday and her team from DPM is to:

  • Identify the public servants who have retired, resigned or terminated and are still waiting for their entitlements to be paid out; and
  • Recommend tough penalties for those non-performing staff members in the HR Division for incompetency and crooked dealings.

They should not be bowing down to the pressures from those in authority and permanently take the HR powers from the SHP administration to get rid of HR fraud.
