COMPUTERS stolen from the Southern Highlands administration office on Sunday were recovered yesterday at a village outside town, provincial police commander Inspector Martin Lakari said.
He said some men broke into the Agiru Centre and stole seven desktops, a printer, three power adapters, a laptop, five flat-screen monitors and four KTU computers from the Treasury and Traffic Registry Office.
Lakari said a security guard, who was on night shift, allegedly assisted the burglars into the building.
“Among the suspects was a security guard who was on duty at that time,” he said.
“Police received a tip-off and recovered all the computers from a nearby village outside town on Wednesday and were returned to the respective offices.
“Those arrested would face the charge of break and enter and stealing.
“Nine suspects were arrested and after police screening, six were released and three were charged.
“Security guards should be mindful when they involve outsiders to come into any property they are in control of.
“They should not be abusing the trust bestowed upon them by their employers,” he said.
