BROTHERS Chris and Walter Benjamin have thanked Rabaul Gurias for giving them an opportunity to play together at the Digicel Cup franchise for the first time.
Walter scored a double and Chris bagged a try in their 30-14 round-11 win over visitors Goroka Lahanis at the Kalabond Oval earlier this month.
“I’m excited to see my small brother grab the opportunity to play with me at the Gurias,” Chris said.
“It’s an honour for our family and I’m proud of his achievement.
“I want to continue playing alongside my brother because seeing each other on the field is motivation for us to perform harder.”
Walter said he was excited to be recalled back into the team.
“I’m happy to play alongside my older brother,” he said.
“It’s a feeling I can’t describe.
“This match will be a memorable one because this is the first time we’ve played together for the Gurias.
“I am happy with my performance compared with my debut match.
“Scoring two tries in my second game is just a great feeling.
“After this game, I believe I’ll score more tries if I retain my position.”
The brothers said they were looking forward to coming back stronger after the two-week competition-wide polling break.
Meanwhile, Gurias coach Francis Ray said he would look to give more games to Walter and see how he would handle the pressure of semi-professional rugby league.
