Hunters gunning for fourth win against Cutters

THE Papua New Guinea Hunters face a another tough challenge on the road against the Mackay Cutters in the Hostplus Cup round 11 match in Mackay on Sunday.
The Hunters are on a three-game winning streak and they will be looking to post a fourth win on the trot and continue the momentum as they look to consolidate a top eight spot.
Coach Paul Aiton’s message to his side has been simple but effective – stick to what is working.
he side has five wins 10 rounds into the competition to be in sixth place on the ladder with 12 points.
The SP Brewery-sponsored side could break into top four of the 15-team standings if they can claim victory at BB Print Stadium.
“We just have to keep it simple and stick to the processes that has been working well for us this season,” Aiton said.
“We are not too focused on our opposition and who is in their side or whether they have an NRL player in their team. When we start focusing on who’s playing for them then our boys will lose focus and confidence.
“So it’s about us and we are focusing on what’s working for us.”
Hunters second-rower Benji Kot said the only area the team needed to improve on was line speed and starting strong.
“I think we are doing so well but it’s just the line speed in our defence that we have to improve and we also need stronger starts,” Kot said.
“We have a quality team and it’s just a matter of sticking to our processes and minimising errors and results will come.”
The only changes in the Hunters team could see Morea Morea return at fullback while Whallan Tau-Loi and Joshua Lau are in doubts due to knee and ankle injuries respectively.
Cutters will feature former North Queensland Cowboys hooker Jake Granville.
