EDUCATION secretary Dr Musawe Sinebare has congratulated all students for their hard work, commitment and perseverance in completing the 2011 academic year.
He said students should be proud to have made that journey in their lives.
Sinebare said there were many pathways available after grades 8, 10 and 12 for students
to pursue to continue their education and training.
“Parents and guardians are encouraged to support their children to pursue those options because the formal system has limited space,” he said in a statement.
He commended teachers for their efforts saying they had done a “tremendous job” often under difficult situations to educate
and mould children.
He challenged teachers to continue to provide an environment conducive to quality education.
He thanked the communities for their support to children, teachers and schools in terms of helping create a good teaching and learning environment.
Sinebare urged parents, guardians, communities, development partners, business houses, non-government agencies and churches to support the education department in implementing the universal basic education plan.
The UBE plan focuses on improving access, enhancing retention, improving quality of education and enhancing basic education management and equality.
