Sinivit locals encouraged to budget, save

THE East New Britain Savings and Loans (ENBSL) team has encouraged people of Pomio’s Sinivit local level government to focus on savings and budgeting from their daily earnings.
ENBSL marketing and sales manager Jessica Kuambu said that the rollout of the financial literacy training module focuses on savings and budgeting and encourages the people to focus on this two.
Kuambu said the budgeting would teach people how to save some of the money and spend the surplus of what they earn for the future or emergencies.
Kuambu said requirements for loans included having an account with ENBSL, having a cash flow statement, having attended financial literacy training, a business plan, tax identification number (TIN) and Investment Promotion Authority (IPA) certificates.
A primary school teacher from Arabam, Robert Kaluban, said that apart from the financial literacy training there had been other programmes such as tourism in the Sinivit LLG, but due to lack of financial literacy, people did not know how to manage their earnings.
