Sink or swim for PNG

Letters

PNG is a small country blessed with so many natural resources.
We have so many resources that can make us so filthy rich and live a luxurious life.
Yet, we are poor and poverty-stricken on a land that has resources other countries could only dream of.
Foreigners came in and are taking over everything – they extract our resources and build their towns and cities, their economies; their people became millionaires and live in mansions.
The Government of PNG is too weak and cannot manage this country properly.
Corruption has taken its toll just because of greed, selfishness and unequal distribution of wealth derived from our resources.
We are spectators on our own land without teeth to bite back and guard what is ours.
Our economy is going down into the drain with the rate of poverty and lawlessness accelerating.
Inflation has hit most of our urban and rural population with prices of basic goods and services rising at an alarming rate which is unstoppable.
Prices of food items such as rice, canned fish, sugar, cooking oil, salt, frozen meat, soap plus others have sky-rocketed.
Prices of petroleum products such as diesel, petrol and kerosene are too high.
We are hard hit by this tremendous hike in prices and cannot afford them as subsistence farmers.
The storm is too strong and PNG is sinking slowly into the deep ocean.
We need a saviour to save PNG and the onus is now with James Marape and his team to pull PNG out of the storm.
Over to you the newly elected government; you either save us or let us die in vain in our richly blessed land.
