EDUCATION subsidies for New Ireland tertiary students studying at certified education institutions in the country have been paid, according to Governor Sir Julius Chan.
He said the New Ireland government had paid the students and institutions entitlements of K2500, consistent with the policy guidelines.
“Our policy guidelines are very clear. We offer tertiary education subsidies to our students attending schools and institutions certified by the National Training Council,” Sir Julius said.
It includes the newly-established International Training Institute which was paid K1 million for enrolling 400 students for the 2016 academic year.
“We have consistently supported our tertiary students since 2008 taking away the financial burden from New Ireland families to the value of K70 million,” he said.
Sir Julius said the New Ireland government lived up to its policy commitments and political commentators should check facts before giving unnecessary media comments.
