GOVERNOR General Sir Michael Ogio says the significance of the Emerging Pacific Leaders Dialogue attended by 12 officials from island countries is invaluable.

The 12 are from the public, private and civil society sectors to discuss challenges each nation faces.

“You are emerging leaders, chosen to lead the rest of us to a better region where all our nations can mutually benefit and grow for the better,” he said.

“Over the next few days, the experience and information you will be given may be overwhelming to process and retain, but it is necessary that you grasp what is now happening in this part of the Pacific.”

He said they must remain committed to principles and aspirations of democracy, good governance, regional cooperation, security and unique cultures and traditions of the Pacific region.
