Sir Peter, father of modern Enga

Letters

THANK you Sir Peter Ipatas for transforming Enga during yours terms in Parliament.
Enga was least developed with scattered cluster of buildings in traditional and modern materials when Sir Peter Ipatas first won the governor’s seat in 1987.
The province was given the name tag ‘way back’ because it was regarded as back page with the least development and a few intellectuals.
The biography of Sir Peter will not be flamboyant as he did not graduate from any high tertiary institutions but he is a big dreamer, dynamic achiever, unique and walks his talk.
Enga was in the dark under the wing of Western Highlands but the former local councilor has lead the province out of the dark tunnel and placed the orchid flag on the national map.
During his campaign in 1987, free education was one of his election policy to collect votes but when he was elected, he made it happened.
From 1987 to now, all elites who passed out of tertiary institutions are his products.
He is called the father of modern Enga and carries the name tag ‘action’.
After realising the fruition of free education, he dreamt for other impacted projects.
Under his term a billion kina level 5 general hospital is reaching its completion stage, installation of a resident judge, building five tertiary institutions, upgrading schools and transforming all of Enga. He has done a tremendous job for Enga.
The K200 million hydro project in Pilikimbi which was signed between Enga Hydro Ltd and Power China will produce 19 megawatts of power, which is 17 times more than what Enga currently receives from Yonki.
The proposal by Sir Peter to establish a university in Enga for all of Papua New Guineans will surely put Enga in the clouds.
The father of modern Enga plays pivotal roles in all government makings to bring needed infrastructural services to Enga.
He has never lost in political games as he knows what is best for Enga.
Despite the unequal distribution of services, we are happy that the good Lord has chosen Sir Peter to develop Enga.
Critics may have their own say.
Thank you once again thank Sir Peter for being instrumental in developing Enga.
Sir Peter you have shifted the direction of a river that has always been flowing downwards.
You will leave a big shoe to be filled for the upcoming generation but the legacy will still remain.

Jeffsatu, Lypin Lokait
