Sir Peter hails Madang chamber

 BUSINESSMAN Sir Peter Barter has praised the Madang Chamber of Commerce for cleaning Madang town to host 1500 tourists from the cruise ship Pacific Aria.

Sir Peter said the liner arrived in Madang at 7am yesterday with mostly Australian passengers who boarded the ship in Cairns.

They are on a 10-day cruise of PNG visiting Alotau, Wewak, Rabaul and Milne Bay Islands. 

Many of the passengers are former PNG residents who want to come back and meet old friends.

The tour agent is the Melanesian Tourist Services who organises sightseeing, village tours and visits to the new Madang Market.

At Bilbil villager, they watched traditional pottery makers at work.

Passengers were taken on a harbour cruise on the Kalibobo Spirit visiting Krangket Lagoon, Pig Island and Wangat Island. They stopped for an hour to allow passengers to have a swim and snorkel in the crystal clear waters of the beautiful harbour.

Sir Peter the managing director of MTS, met a number of passengers who previously arrived on the mv Pacific Dawn. 

MTS operations manager Wesley Hatan was told by the ship’s tour staff that they enjoyed their visit.
