Small businesses to showcase products

THE Stret Pasin Bisnis Incubation Centre in Port Moresby will host an Open Day today and tomorrow, according to National Development Bank Investment (NDBI).
The purpose is to allow the public to visit shops inside the incubation centre and support local small to medium enterprises, a statement said.
Customers can choose from a variety of shops – barber shops, fast food and catering, clothing and accessories, arts and  craft, herbal shop and Christian book shop.
The centre has four fast-food outlets which serve hot and cold meals at affordable prices.
There is ample sitting area where customers can enjoy their meals.
“The idea behind the open day is to encourage the public to see what our local SMEs have to offer,” NDBI chief executive Des Yaninen said.
“Many of our local SMEs have the potential to operate successful businesses or operate businesses that have the potential to excel but are limited by various setbacks like finding affordable office spaces at the right location to operate their businesses from.
“On the other hand, we as locals are not fully aware of the potential of our local SMEs and what they have to offer.
“So from this open day we hope we can have as many people as possible come in, appreciate and support our local businesses by way of purchasing their products and services.  You will be surprised.”
