Snax Nines tournament successful

LAST week’s Snax Nines was hailed a success with 32 teams competing in the three-day rugby league tournament at the Lae Rugby League Ground in the Morobe capital.
But Snax Nines director Steven Malum told The National that there were a lot of challenges as the Lae Biscuit Company-sponsored tournament had attracted a record number of teams.
“To run the tournament within three days is very challenging,” he said.
“But with the help of a lot of people, including technical officials, referees, teachers, ushers and security, we managed to host a successful tournament.
“Sometimes you come early and go late in the night but it finished well.
“For the seventh year, we have improved but there are areas in which we can continue improving.
“So with that, the tournament was great and I thank the media for the publicity.”
Malum thanked Lae Biscuit Company and said he was looking forward to a bigger, better tournament next year.
