Society to help fund ENB govt

THE East New Britain Savings and Loans Society is prepared to help the East New Britain government to fund various infrastructure projects such as roads and schools.
Society chairman Sinai Brown declared the support to the government at the launching and opening of the society’s agency in Vunakaur, Toma–Vunadidir, Gazelle, recently.
“We have more than K10 million sitting idle in this branch,” he said.
“We urge the society to lend that money to the government to help build roads and schools.
“We cannot wait for the National Government to come in to fund all of our roads that are fast deteriorating.
“We need to get money somewhere else to maintain all our existing roads.”
Brown urged Governor Nakikus Konga and the government to look into borrowing money from its own local financial institution to fund infrastructure programmes in the province instead of waiting for the National Government.
Meanwhile, he said the province needed to start looking at deficit budgeting instead of balance budgeting for the development of ENB.
