Information and Communication Technology Minister Timothy Masiu, Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Isi Henry Leonard, Internal Security Minister Peter Tsiamalili Jr, and Fisheries and Marine Resources Minister Jelta Wong at Parliament House yesterday.

POLICE will look into how they can address the shortage of senior officers in some provinces, says Internal Security Minister Peter Tsiamalili Jr.
Tsiamalili said police commissioner David Manning was looking into the matter.
“Our police force’s manpower is stretched,” he said.
Tsiamalili said that there were vacancies in the force in some of the districts.
“That is something (to be dealt with) at the operational level,” he said.
“The police commissioner and his deputy in charge of operations are strongly looking into it and will review it.
“It’s not just happening in Maprik.
“It is happening across the country.”
Tsiamalili said he also had plans to introduce new reforms to fill in the gaps in the constabulary which included the shortage of senior officers.
He was responding in Parliament to Maprik MP Gabirel Kapris who said that there had been no senior police officer in Maprik for years.
Tsiamalili said that he would ask the police commissioner David Manning to look into Maprik’s situation.
He urged MPs and governors to consult their provincial police commanders and work on areas which needed attention.
