Son charged with damaging police vehicle

A POLICE officer’s son in Kokopo has been arrested and charged by police for damaging a police vehicle.
East New Britain police commander Chief Insp Joseph Tabali said that he had instructed police in Kokopo to charge the son of Senior Constable Otto Tovue who he said would have to meet the costs of the damage.
“I will deal with the policeman disciplinarily.
“He has to meet the cost of the damage done to the vehicle,” he said.
Tabali said the cost of the damage was K4,000 which the officer had paid.
The vehicle is now in the workshop for the damaged parts to be fixed and replaced.
Tabali said he was yet to
receive a report from the Criminal Investigation Division as regarding the cause of the incident.
Tabali also said that Police Minister Bryan Kramer had directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police Operation David Manning to call him to find out more about the matter.
