Soongie appointed bishop

Father Justin Ain Soongie has been appointed the Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic diocese of Wabag.
The Apostolic Nunciature (Embassy of the Holy See) in Papua New Guinea informed Pope Francis of the appointment.
Fr Justin was the Vicar-General of the Catholic diocese of Wabag.
He was born on June 2, 1973, at Tsikiro village in Wabag, Enga, and ordained on May 11, 2005.
He was with the Formation with Brothers of Charity Postulancy in 1993 and 1994, Formation with Brothers of Charity Novitiate in 1995 and 1996, Good Shepherd Seminary, Fatima from 1997 to 1999, Catholic Theological Institute, Bomana from 2002 to 2004 and the Pontifical University Urbaniana in Rome from 2011 to 2014.
He was the assistant parish priest at Tsikiro in 2005, assistant parish priest at Mang and Mariant from 2005 to 2006, parish priest at Mang 2006 to 2011, parish priest at Sari in 2014, Vicar-General in 2014 and pastoral vicar this year.
Fr Justin has held assignments within the diocese which include members of board of trustee, member of diocesan pastoral coordinating council, deputy chairman of the diocesan health board, Kopen Secondary School chaplain and diocesan coordinator.
