Sort issues during holidays: TCS

TEACHERS’ issues are to be addressed over school holidays to avoid them missing classes, says an official.
Teaching Service Commission (TSC) chairman Samson Wangihomie said this in response to The National’s queries about long queues of teachers at Vulupindi Haus in Port Moresby recently.
“It is because of limited space inside, we take 10 teachers in at a time and attend to their queries,” he said.
Wangihomie said they were waiting for Treasury and Finance Departments who were occupying the downstairs to move out of the space which they would occupy to attend to teachers’ queries.
He said the TSC would open to attend to teachers’ queries during holiday periods to discourage them from missing classes.
“If you have issues and required to see your head teacher and education division to resolve them, do not leave school and come as we do not approve of that,” he said.
Wangihomie said leaving school to bring your queries to the TSC was not right because it would be at the expense of students. He urged teachers to stay in school and attend classes during school days.
He also thanked teachers for following the instructions and the department circular by starting classes on time.
