THE Southern Highlands provincial administration restructure has been approved by the Department of Personnel Management, Governor William Powi told a consultative meeting in Mendi yesterday.

The meeting was attended by members of the provincial executive council and public servants to address health and education services in the province. Powi said although Hela was a separate province, its administrative structure was still under the Southern Highlands administration.

He said the SHP administration would have 768 positions from the previous 951 positions while Hela would have its own structure.

“This is a benchmark I’m trying to set for this province during this transitional period by coming up with a overarching plan for the province for now and the future that would move this province,” Powi said.

“Too often many plans were never realised as things change but the plan for the province is a road map for Southern Highlands.”
