Business
Stella Ikasa

SOUTH Pacific Brewery has appointed Stella Ikasa as the new manager for its Lae brewery.
The Madang woman was recruited out of school in 2005 after graduating with a degree in food technology from the University of Technology.
Ikasa, one of SP Brewery’s early management graduate trainees, has served the company in several positions rising through the ranks from quality control supervisor in her first year and to quality control manager by 2010 at the company’s Lae plant.
Ikasa was promoted to brewing manager at the Lae plant in 2015 after supervising the successful confirmation for the LSS (laboratory star system) 1 certification for the company’s laboratory.
She served in the role for four years and later moved to Port Moresby to take up her current role as packaging manager.
Known for her passion for quality in brewing, Ikasa has a wealth of knowledge and experience at SP Brewery and is always eager to mentor and coach junior staff, who now hold senior managerial positions in the company.
Her experience comes from numerous trainings in quality and brewing within the Asia Pacific region and years of service at Lae and Port Moresby breweries.
Ikasa said the three things that had contributed to her success at the brewery were: the company’s structured systems that provided employees with information on brewing beer and following international standards; the company’s support and investment in its employees in leadership training and management skills; and, having great mentors and coaches.
