THE Tufi Tapa and Tatoo Festival received K15,000 from South Pacific Brewery.
The festival, which began last year, will be staged next month (Nov 9-10) in Northern.
During the cheque presentation yesterday, Ijivitari MP Richard Masere said the festival was one of seven certified festivals in the country and was fortunate to receive support from the brewer.
“Tourism and agriculture are two very important industries in our district that we want to champion them in our province because I believe that Papua New Guinea is all about tourism and agriculture,” Masere said. SP Brewery managing director Ed Weggemans said the brewery was partnering with organisations and initiatives that promoted cultural diversity.
“We are aligning ourselves more with cultural activities, which also includes promoting local arts and crafts. We are happy with this partnership with festival and working with the Oro people to promote their distinct culture,” he said.
