SPEAKER of Parliament Theodore Zurenuoc clashed with Bogia MP John Hickey last week for not allowing the latter into the Parliament Chamber because of his (Hickey’s) current Leadership Tribunal case.

On the other hand, Zurenuoc argued that convicted Gulf Governor Havila Kavo was allowed to sit in Parliament and that he would not entertain any more debate on the issue.

The Speaker did not make specific references to the law that allowed a convicted MP to enter the chamber.

He also said it was beyond the control of the Parliament to deal with the Gulf Governor unlike Hickey and other MPs who were facing Leadership Tribunal charges.

If Hickey is suspended from Parliament Chamber then the same ruling must apply to Kavo.

Why is there two different laws for convicted MPs like Kavo and MPs like Hickey who are charged with misconduct in office.

Mr Speaker, you need to explain this to the rest of the country.
