THE National Training Council is keen on working with the Education Department to address the need for specialised teachers to help students with special needs.
National Training Council (NTC) director Kinsella Geoffrey said both private and public, NGOs and donor countries can be engaged to develop strategies and programmes to help train teachers to better serve the students with special needs.
He also noted that there were other areas the NTC was aiming to look into to help education and training for people with special needs.
Geoffrey said the 13th key policy area of the National Training Policy 2022 to 2032 was aimed at getting training providers to meet certain requirements with respect to PWSNs before they can be registered as training providers.
He said some of those requirements included providing ramps, toilets, qualified trainers and learning aids for the different types of impairments.
