Specialists begin work

A TEAM of Australian medical specialists (AustMat) who are in the country to assist with the Government’s national response to Covid-19 have begun visiting sites and held briefings with local doctors.
Australian High Commissioner Jon Philp said the seven-member team led by Dr Mark Little were in Port Moresby to support local health authorities.
“The team will work closely with health workers and medical specialists at the Port Moresby General Hospital.
“They will also work with medical specialists at the two Covid-19 isolation centres at the Rita Flynn Indoor Complex and Taurama Aquatic Centre .
“This is to help boost Covid-19 preparations and the existing health system.
Philp told The National yesterday that AustMat would support health efforts and strengthen the health system as the city experiences a rise in Covid-19 cases.
