Speed up NID registration

Letters

ARE we going to use the National Identification card (NID) to cast our votes come 2022?
The previous government has been so vocal about using the NID card during voting.
The hype has been fast hibernating without any mention about it.
The Government’s uncertainty on the usage of NID during the election has left concerned voters in limbo.
NID cards are needed for electronic voting which is more transparent.
Counting will become easier without any hustle or discrepancies if voters’ data are securely kept and effectively used during the polling and counting period.
It will save the government money, time and resources.
There will be no double voting or hijacking of ballot papers if votes are electronically casted.
The Government needs to be serious and take a proactive approach by speeding up the NID registration.
By getting every eligible voter into the government database, it will have a smooth 2022 election.
Responsible government agencies and departments need to speed up the NID registration process.
We have limited time left and hope the Government will be prudent to have a precise plan in place.
This Government should not be complacent but aspire to thrive in rising the status quo.
If the Government implements the electronic voting in 2022, it will set a new precedent for itself.
It will go down in the history book of Papua New Guinea for its notable achievement.
I hope those in authority take note of and do something.
