BERNARD Taha is spending his Christmas holidays selling pineapples from his grandfather’s farm.
Taha, 11, from Sirinumu in Central, sells the delicious pineapples at the Boroko Market in Port Moresby.
The pineapples are from the farm of his grandfather Duna Biai at Varutanumu village. Varutanumu village is located near the Sirinumu dam.
Biai says it takes around four months for one to bear fruit and mature. The warm weather since September has also made the popular fruit sweet and juicy.
The latest harvest consisted of between 40 and 50 pineapples.
Biai depends on family members such as his grandson Bernard to transport the pineapples from Sirinumu to Port Moresby.
