Squad in third training camp

PNG Karatedo Federation development squad are undergoing intensive skills training under Brisbane coach Trevor Roberts in Port Moresby.
This is Roberts’ third training camp for the development squad in preparation for the 2015 Pacific Games in PNG. He conducted other training camps in June and July this year in Port Moresby.
Roberts said he was impressed with the progress of the squad members.
“They have a lot of potentials that we have to train and develop but we still have a long way to go towards the Pacific Games,” he said.
A former Australian Oceania team coach, Roberts was appointed by PNGKF president Carl Mari to prepare the development squad under the national government funding “Go for Gold” programme in conjunction with the PNG Sports Federation and Olympic Committee.
Mari said under the programme, provincial instructors and artists were flown in to take part in the four-day training camp at the Lamana Hotel.
Only 32 from the 50-member squad will be selected to compete in 2015 Pacific Games.
,” Mari said.Meanwhile, the federation’s annual general meeting will be held today at 10am at the Lamana Hotel.
