THE Sri Lanka-PNG Friendship Foundation donated more than K30,000 worth rations, cash and essential goods to the Cheshire Disability Services in Port Moresby last Saturday.
Foundation president Panditha Bandara said during the donation that everyone in one way or another needed to help those who had a disability as they were also members of any community and society.
“We want to make sure that every person living with disability is not left behind in receiving equal opportunities,” Bandara said.
This is the third consecutive year the foundation has donated to the Cheshire Disability centre, sharing the message of “giving, goodwill and Christmas cheer.”
The items included rice, sugar, flour, noodles, frozen goods, detergent, tooth brushes, soap and shirts and towels.
“The donations are from businesses owned by Sri Lankans and other individuals in the country,” Bandara said.
Cheshire Disability Services programmes support and operations officer Tom Sarawon said the disability centre has been a home to many special need persons.
