STATE has advised a court that it has received closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage for the case against a man who allegedly killed businessman Jeffery Paul Bull in Port Moresby two years ago.
Lawyer Nathan Pare said in the National Court in Waigani yesterday that the prosecution had received CCTV footage from police investigators on Wednesday.
Alexander Genia is alleged to have killed Bull on Sept 20, 2019, at the address Sect 55 Lot 7, Sore St at Gordon.
He is charged with wilful murder.
Genia’s lawyer David Kayok said the defence was still waiting for the CCTV footage to prepare its pre-trial report.
Acting Judge Tracy Ganaii ordered both State and defence lawyers to complete service and file pre-trial reports for Genia’s case.
Pare said the State would then serve a copy on the defence.
The court fixed the matter to return next Thursday and Genia was remanded in Bomana prison.
Last November, a committal court found enough evidence against Genia and committed him to trial.
It was alleged that Genia was last seen with Bull at Sect 55, Lot 7 along Sore St in Gordon, Port Moresby on Sept 19, 2019, between 9pm and 2am.
The property is allegedly owned by Genia’s father, Allan Tan of Malaysian origin, and rented out to Solomon Tarrobal.
Genia is all alleged to have told security guards who were manning the property to go and buy betel nuts.
While the guards were away, Genia allegedly had an argument with Bull over some unsettled and failed business deals.
Genia allegedly stabbed Bull several times with a pocket knife.
Police identified the victim as Jeffery Paul Bull of Mul-Baiyer in Western Highlands.
According to police investigations, Bull had been allegedly run over by his own vehicle, assaulted and then stabbed multiple times.
The slaying was caught on CCTV.
