Stealing air ticket lands man in jail

 STEALING an airline ticket has landed a man in jail for 12 months.

Magistrate Nasaling Bingtau told Thomas Tubi last last Friday in the Lae District Court that the sentence was necessary to deter other people from stealing.

“There are too many instances of people opening other people’s cars and stealing,” Bingtau said.

The court heard that the ticket belonged to a man whose car was burgled near Plumtade at Milford Haven road in Lae.  He reported the theft to police.

The court heard that his wife later found Tubi, from Bukawain Morobe, selling the ticket at Eriku and called police.

Tubi admitted possessing a stolen ticket but said he did not steal it.

Bingtau refused to believe Tubi and jailed him.
