Steamships appoints third local to its board

CHRISTINE Kasou has become the third Papua New Guinea citizen to be appointed to the board of the Steamships Trading Company.
Managing director Rupert Bray said Kasou’s appointment underscored the company’s commitment to supporting local talent and empowering the next generation of leaders in the region.
“The company believes in the importance of fostering a diverse leadership team that reflects the communities it serves, challenge traditional gender norms creating a stronger advocacy base for women in the corporate sector. Kasou holds a bachelor of law degree from the University of PNG and has more than 17 years’ experience in the country’s oil and gas industry.
She worked extensively in contracting and procurement functions, legal and compliance, gas projects development and people and culture.
Kasou began her career as a commercial lawyer in private practice in 2001 in Port Moresby.
In 2006, she joined Oil Search (PNG) Ltd, now a subsidiary of Santos.
She said she was honoured to have joined the Steamships board of directors.
