DEPUTY Prime Minister and Minister for Justice and Attorney-General Davis Steven launched the department’s Corporate Plan 2019-2023 in Port Moresby yesterday.
Steven said the document provided a roadmap for the department and would guide its progress in the future.
“I assure everyone in the country that we stand steadfast in our goal of stamping out corruption and mismanagement in our department and the public service,” he said.
Department of Justice and Attorney-General secretary Dr Eric Kwa said they would also launch the Social Law and Order Strategic Framework 2019-2022.
He said he was happy to announce that the document was put together by their internal teams and did not engage outside consultants.
“We were going to launch it last year but due to change of government, there were new directions that came so we decided to hold back the plan until we got this social law and order frame work together,” Kwa said.
“We at the department try to restructure and rearrange ourselves by establishing systems in which decisions are made by groups and not individuals.
“We are working with the other departments trying to deliver justice as reflected in the corporate plan.”
The event was witnessed by the members of the National Coordinating Mechanism, Social Law and Order Sector, Justice Services and Stability for Development and the Australian High Commission.
