Stingers kitted for national titles

STINGERS women’s softball club received a timely boost in their preparation for the upcoming National Club Softball championships scheduled for Independence weekend in Lae.
Sandaun Fuel Distributors Limited (SFDL) in Vanimo came to their assistance by providing them new uniforms and equipment as they prepared for the championships and also for the 2012-2013 softball season which starts in October.
Managing director Max Kamba said he believed in giving something back to the community, and that was what he actually did by supporting Stringers softball club in Port Moresby.
As a nationally-owned company, Kamba said his company, SFDL was privelleged to support the young and promising softball club
Kamba said this is not the first time his company was involved in sponsoring sports.
The company has also  supported in kind to Team Sandaun to the PNG Games in Kokopo apart from ministerial support from Sandaun MPs Belden Namah and Patrick Pruaitch.
Wendy Kalas-Sirae, the club administrator said the Stringers women’s softball club had a proud record in their short history in Port Moresby women softball competition nad were confident of a strong show in Lae.

Last year, there were minor premier, but unfortunately they lost to United Sisters.
They finished third last year and the previous year, the clubs finished fourth which was a quite an achievement for a club who has relatively unknown players in the women competition.
Stingers is one of the three teams from Port Moresby who have confirmed to take part in the softball club championships in Lae. Other teams include United Sisters and Bears while other teams for Lae include Manolos, Stormerz, Karanas and Tabubil- Karanas,
The teams are; Men – Pom- Bears, Gazelle, Lae- Karanas, Manolos, Admiralty Marlins, Goroka- Brown Eagles, Madang- Newtown Tigers, Mt Hagen- Gazelle, Ramu- Vicory Dogs and Tabubil- Karanas
