Stop fighting

Letters

KUP LLG in Chimbu is leading the country in tribal fights.
We experience tribal fights regularly and it is part of everyday life.
If you were to ask anyone at Kup if they know anything about tribal fight, the response will be: “I once experienced it or saw it.”
No one will ever say: “I heard about it.”
I do not know how or when we will change our attitudes and mindset.
I was lucky to have moved out of the community to complete my education when there were tribal fights back in my village in the 1990s and 2000s.
Others did not continue their schooling.
This problem is continuing.
Right now, there is a tribal fight at Bende village, which is just opposite of the Barawagi Jail.
I am very concerned about children who are missing school just because of this.
There might be a future doctor, pilot, teacher, engineer, minister or even prime minister among them.
I appeal to our local peace mediation team, police, Kup LLG president, wards councillors, community leaders and MPs to step in and settle this issue.
They need to do something before things get worse like previous years.
