HOMEGROWN supermarket Stop N Shop has formed an affiliation with US multinational supermarket Independent Grocers Alliance (IGA) in response to customer demand and a changing market.
IGA is a multinational supermarket network based in US with 5,000 stores worldwide and is present in more than 30 countries, commonwealths and territories.
CPL Group executive chairman Mahesh Patel said the retail affiliation of their supermarket business last week was a decision driven not only by the opportunity to be a part of a large global network, but by a shared philosophy for high standards of customer service and community focus.
With the new retail partnership, the name of the store has now been changed to Stop n Shop IGA and it will be reflected in their store signages.
Acting general manager for supermarket division Mike Taylor said with this affiliation CPL now had the ability to source globally from US as well as Australia.
CPL also has the unique ability to develop a product themselves and get it branded by IGA.
This gives their customers a wide variety of products at global competitive prices.
“What this means is that we can now offer more products, more services and more value to our existing and new customers as well as our staff,” Taylor said.
CPL Group chief executive officer, Ravi Singh, said: “It’s really a thrill to begin something new even after CPL’s 25 years in the retail industry.
“I can already see the meaningful difference we can make by being able to help and serve our customers better with all their shopping needs.”
Singh said CPL intended to run its Port Moresby stores as Stop n Shop IGA but holds the master franchise for PNG.
