THE back-to-school shopping has become digital with stationery company Theodist stocking up to meet students’ technology needs.
This shift reflects the digital transition of the country and how education needs have also followed suit, Theodist sales manager Kevin Anderson says.
Anderson said that Theodist, in Waigani, Port Moresby, also adjusted to this by having technology counters and promotions.
“We prepared for this since June last year as January is the busiest time of the year for our operations,” he said. “That includes importing stock early, coming up with the promotions and the usual. And we also took on 20-plus additional staff early to prepare for this as well.
“There are key offers or promotions where you have 20 per cent discount on school shoes, backpacks 50 per cent off if it the second purchase and the laptop.
“The laptop offer is a new promotion as we realised that back-to-school technology has become a big part of that.
“This is also the reason why we have a new technology centre here.
“And that is one of our objectives to provide affordable laptops and other technology that our usual customers will need.
“There is change is emphasis across the country for the use of technology and we are adjusting to the growing demand and need that will come out from that shift by providing quality products.”
Anderson said the promotions would run until Feb 28.
This is also the time for its corporate clients to stock up for the year.
