POMSOE has unleashed a new terror on the soccer pitch in new-found striker Teggy Gomara, who had a field day in scoring all five goals in their 5-1 demolition of PS Rutz in the Port Moresby Super League women’s soccer competition on Sunday.
The 17-year-old Central lass was spotted by John Mogi while playing for Gerehu Secondary in the National Capital District schools soccer competition.
Gomara, who spent two seasons with POMSOE and mainly played goalkeeper and defender, was moved forward where her speed and kicking ability proved a great asset to the team.
Her presence as striker was what POMSOE needed as they had lacked firepower in recent outings.
She made her presence felt in her new striking position when she scored two quick goals in the space of three minutes to put them in front 2-0.
PS Rutz replied through Adrea Yuki to trail 2-1 but any thoughts of a comeback were quickly dashed.
POMSOE never gave up and Gomara scored thrice more to take her team’s tally to 5-1.
In the other women’s soccer matches that were played simultaneously on ground two at Bisini, the Snax-sponsored Mungkas thrashed Yamaros 6-1, with striker Fatima Rama scoring all six goals.
In the early match on Sunday, Lamana won after YMC forfeited for not fielding a team.
On Saturday, Flossie Makeu played a great captain’s game to lead Guria 4-0 over a depleted Lamana side.
Makeu scored a hat-trick, while international player Jacqueline Chalau scored one.
