Strong wind warning for travellers to Wasu, Sialum, Siassi Island

A STRONG wind warning has been issued for people travelling to Sialum, Wasu and Siassi Island.
The warning to take extra precaution by Finschhafen police also goes to those travelling from Lae to Finschhafen and other coastal villages in the districts of Morobe.
Finschhafen police station commander Sergeant Taki Dewop said villagers along these coastlines should also take safety measures before going out fishing.
“When travelling out to sea, make sure to take with you all that is required and do not overload boats,” Dewop said.
He said boat operators and owners should be very careful as lives would be at great risk at this time of the year without proper safety equipment.
Dewop said those travelling to and from Siassi Island, Wasu and Sialum should take extra precautionary measures as it was windy, seas were and waves bigger.
