A STUDENT was reportedly run over by PMV buses in Lae – a day after a bus rammed four people along the same stretch of the road, killing an Omili Primary School student.

The elementary student was hit near the Boinamo crusher yard early in the morning, while the Omili girl, was run into and dragged several metres.

Witnesses said the bus that hit the school girl, had first hit a man several metres away and was getting away when it ran into the student as she was crossing the road with her mother.

The vehicle then again hit another person further up the road as the driver was fleeing.

The accidents have prompted calls by community leaders and  members of the public for the Morobe provincial government and relevant agencies to crack down on PMV operators.

They called on PMV drivers to adhere to rules.

The accidents coincide with the week in which Morobe Governor and chairman of the Morobe land transport board Kelly Naru is trying to find out transport and PMV issues in Lae.
