A STUDENT leader has called on the East New Britain provincial government to throw in more support for Kerevat National High School.

School head boy Joseph Piam made this call last Friday during the school graduation.

“Be proud of the school. Although it directly falls under the care of the national education department, it is in East New Britain and has produced great leaders now running the country,” he said.

He said while Kerevat had a chaotic start last year when it enrolled the first intake of Grade 11 students, it was a smooth start this year.

“This great success was a result of team work and we highly recognise the national government for its great support in ensuring that we received enough support to see restoration in this school,” he said.

National Education Board committee chairman Dr Goru Hane Nou said it was critical for the provincial government, administration and all stakeholders to take a holistic towards the institution.

“ENB is a strong community. Put all differences aside and support the school. The school needs your support to survive,” he said.

He said principal Ray Rieme Alo was  known for thinking and doing things outside the box.

“The trip to Indonesia by the teachers recently to learn more on how they can improve the standard of education in the school as part of upgrading to a school of excellence is a reflection of thinking outside the box,” Nou said.

He said the provincial government and the community should appreciate these efforts and support the school.
