A DESK with a few flowers on top remained empty as students sat for the National Written Expression examination at the Tokarara Secondary School yesterday.
Euginia Epaug, 19, who passed away two weeks ago, was to have sat for the exam with her classmates.
“The loss of our senior student is very unfortunate,” principal Gabriel Mange said.
“She was not able to sit the exam like her fellow students and to live her life longer.”
Her teacher said Epaug’s family was yet to confirm to the school the cause of her death. All they heard was that she had been in a coma for some time.
Flowers were placed on her desk in the exam hall yesterday in her memory.
More than 30,000 Grade 12 students from 185 secondary, national high and high schools around the country sat for the exams.
Mange said students were prepared for the exams “as they came in early and we started on time”.
The Grade 12 objective exams will be from October 14 to 18.
The examination marks will be added to the final results and certification.
