STUDENTS at the Balob Teachers’ College are settling in and preparing for lectures on Monday.
Registration officially closed last Friday but some students were given until today for late registration.
Student Representative Council (SRC) president Toovey Steven said lecture rooms opened on Wednesday and students
were cleaning up getting ready for lectures.
“The self and corporate sponsored students who came late are now registering with K100 late registration fee. Otherwise, registrations went smoothly without major hiccups,” he said.
Steven said the administration has allowed students to pay 65 per cent upfront which has enabled everyone to register and he thanked the college for its understanding.
He also thanked corporate sponsors, including Morobe’s Gerson-Solulu scholarship programme, for continuing to sponsor students.
“I would like to thank the Morobe government for continuously investing in teacher training.,” he said.
Steven said the corporate sponsors have the good reputation of always paying students’ fees in full without failure.
That commitment helped the college to benefit and that was why they allowed the students to register with the scholarship’s selection list.
He said the teachers would go to remote areas of the country where no other government services were found – only the school and the local people.
